How fly-tipping changed across London

Each line is one London authority. Height shows recorded fly-tipping incidents.

Which London borough has the biggest fly-tipping problem? It depends when you ask and how each council records incidents. Newham reported more than 70,000 in 2014–15. Camden reached 36,216 in 2024–25. Lewisham went from 4,294 in 2020–21 to 33,471 four years later. Over 14 years, the leaders changed almost completely, but differences in council reporting mean the figures should be compared with care.

Data and methodology: London Datastore fly-tipping dataset, based on Defra / WasteDataFlow records, 2011–12 to 2024–25; see also the 2024–25 statistical release. Five borough-year figures are missing from the source data, so they appear as gaps in the chart rather than zeros.
