Between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, TfL recorded 294,824 items found on its services and premises, mostly on buses (56.7%) and the Underground (38.1%). Overall, 15.6% were reclaimed. Phones were far more likely to make it back to their owners: 42.5%, compared with 2.3% of umbrellas and 2.2% of jewellery. Most recovered items were collected on-site, for example on a bus or at a station. Of 156 reclaimed umbrellas, only two were returned through TfL’s Lost Property Office.
